STUDENT ENRICHMENT
“Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn."
~ T.H. White, The Once and Future King
There's more to a child's education than reading, writing, and 'rithmetic. There's art. Music. Theater. Academic contests. The chance to perform in a concert or to attend a summer program that gives a student the chance to explore a forest.
And that's where the BCIU's student enrichment programs come in. Via partnerships with businesses, artists, musicians, colleges, and non-profit organizations in Berks County and beyond, the BCIU offers young people a true wealth of activities designed to enhance and expand their education.
In addition, school students have many opportunities to participate in summer learning programs in the Berks County area and across Pennsylvania.
The Institute of the Arts in Wyomissing is offering several arts programs for young people this summer, from workshops that will see students exploring the rhythms and techniques of African drumming, to comedy and improvisation classes, to drawing and cartooning workshops. The Institute also is offering its popular “Musical in a Week” workshop, in which participants get to create a musical, complete with sets and costumes, in just five days!
But there’s no need to stop with just Berks County. Colleges, universities, and other educational entities throughout the state also are offering summer arts enrichment programs this summer. Several also offer programs in business and technology. Follow this link to a listing of summer programs being offered throughout the state.
