Transportation Career Opportunities

The Berks County Intermediate Unit has immediate openings for school bus drivers, van drivers, and bus/van assistants.

Bus drivers can earn up to $30.10 per hour depending on experience. Van drivers can earn $20.60 and bus/van assistants can earn up to $17.25.

Positions are available in Muhlenberg School District. 

Compensation And Benefits

• Up to $30.10 per hour depending on assignment and experience

• $1,500 bonus for applicants who hold a CDL with proper endorsements as a school bus driver

• $125 a year holiday stipend

• $500 Employee Referral Bonus for each successful referral

Work Schedule

• Part-Time

• Average 20-25 hours/week | 10 months/year

• Additional hours available if interested

• Summers optional

• No evenings or weekends required

• Morning and afternoon runs

Qualifications For Employment

• Must have valid PA driver's license

• Must pass applicable physical exam

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• High School diploma and/or GED preferred

• Obtain or hold current, valid Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification

• Ability to work a flexible schedule

• Negative drug and alcohol screenings

• Must be able to lift and frequently carry up to 35 pounds

• Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with staff, students, and families
