United Way Bingo volunteers pose at BCIU table

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) hosted its second annual Designer Bag Bingo at the Governor Mifflin Intermediate School to benefit the United Way of Berks County. More than 160 guests filled the room hoping to win one of the designer purses featured as Bingo prizes. In addition to Bingo, the event included the opportunity to win raffle baskets donated by generous sponsors, participate in a 50/50 drawing, and purchase food and other refreshments.

The event raised more than $8,300 which will go toward the BCIU’s 2024-2025 United Way Campaign to support its valuable initiatives. “We are grateful to James Ulrich, Governor Mifflin School District (GMSD) Board President and the entire GMSD board; to Dr. Lisa Hess, GMSD Superintendent, and GMSD staff for their assistance and hospitality; to our generous sponsors; and to every community member who joined us for a wonderful day. I also want to thank the United Way Committee for their hard work in bringing the event to life, as well as our volunteers, whose dedication was invaluable. The contributions from the Designer Bag Bingo event will make an impact in the lives of countless individuals and families in our communities served through the United Way,” shared Dr. Jill Hackman, BCIU Executive Director. “This event represents the power of community and our shared commitment to supporting each other.”
