lauren hammond january 2025 employee of the month

Lauren Hammond, Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) Training and Project Coordinator in the Office of Early Childhood and Student Services (ECSS), has been named employee of the month for January 2025.

“Lauren’s contributions to our program have been substantial and beyond expectations. Over the past few years, Lauren has shown a strong ability to take the initiative with any new project that is handed to her. She enthusiastically takes on these projects and uses her creativity to put out qualityresources upon which our districts frequently rely,” shared Melissa DeMotta,

ECYEH Supervisor. “One excellent example is our regional website. With Lauren’s work, this website has grown into a full-service resource for our homeless liaisons and community partners. It has an array of information for our liaisons, a calendar of events with registration links, and, among other items, training resources, including activities that districts can utilize. This site has not only been recognized by the school districts within our region as an excellent tool, but it has also been recognized for its excellence on the state level by the Department of Education and served as a model website for other regions.”

Lauren graduated from Penn State Berks with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. Originally from Hawley, she now lives in Pottstown with her wife, Mindi. The couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary in July and share their home with two dogs, three cats, and five chickens. In her free time, Lauren enjoys cooking, crafting, camping, and spending time outdoors.

Lauren loves being part of her incredible team and values the many opportunities her role provides to challenge her creativity.

You might not know that, although Lauren was once afraid of public speaking, her current role requires it regularly. This year, she conquered her fears by presenting at her first national conference!
