The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) was pleased to host the 26th Annual Board Presidents’ and Superintendents’/CTC Directors’ Workshop on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the BCIU Main Office. Nearly 55 school leaders attended the event, engaging in networking and an insightful presentation by Valentina (Tina) Viletto, Esq., Training and Outreach Consultant for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, on effective school board governance, leadership, and collaboration.
Ms. Viletto is a strong advocate for public education and initiatives that support students, educators, and schools across the state. With her extensive experience as a school board member, president, and administrator, as well as an attorney, she brought a unique perspective to the discussion. In her presentation, “Guiding the Future: Strategic Leadership and Effective Board Governance,” she shared the essential components and practices of high-impact school boards and provided valuable guidance for ensuring that Board governance remains effective, transparent, and student-focused. She stressed that work as a school board member and superintendent/CTC director is based on human relations, working as a team, with roles clearly defined, toward the common goal of providing the best education to all students and opportunities for student achievement, growth, and success
The Board Presidents’ and Superintendents’/CTC Directors Workshop is an annual event dedicated to strengthening leadership and fostering collaboration among school administrators. The BCIU extends our sincere gratitude to Ms. Viletto for her invaluable insights, as well as our generous sponsors, Fidevia Construction Management and Consulting and Devopar Consulting, for making the event possible. We also offer our appreciation to the dedicated Board members and school administrators for their participation, and for their continued collaboration and commitment to the more than 70,000 students in Berks County.
