Camp Connect
Free Bereavement Camp for Children and Teens
Camp Connect provides students with the opportunity to come together, at no cost, to learn new ways of dealing with their grief, and to meet other children and families who have experienced similar loss. Specially trained counselors, nurses, and college interns from across Berks County provide support with a one-to-one staff-to-student ratio.
Camp Connect provides students with the opportunity to:
Be with others their own age who are also grieving
Learn ways to identify and express painful emotions
Develop new skills to cope with their loss
This four-day experience is filled with fun activities, art, music, and games combined with grief education and emotional support. Specially trained volunteers and mental health professionals facilitate all camp activities.
Camp Connect is held at two locations each summer:
Temple/Muhlenberg Area
RT. 10 Between Flying Hills and Morgantown
Camp Connect is offered by the Berks County Intermediate Unit and is supported through a collaborative partnership of the Berks County Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities Program, Jan’s Circle of Friends, local hospice bereavement programs, social agencies, and therapy dogs.
