K-12 Services
Serving Students in Berks County and Beyond

The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) provides services and enrichment opportunities to the students of Berks County, helping to ensure that the more than 70,000 students served reach their full potential.

The BCIU, through the Office of Early Childhood & Student Services, operates alternative education programs at various sites throughout Berks County to support the needs of students.

Berks Online Learning (BOL) offers Berks County students significant online learning opportunities while earning a diploma from their home school district.

Camp Connect provides students with the opportunity to learn new ways of dealing with their grief while meeting other children and families who have experienced similar loss.

The BCIU partners with John’s Driving School to offer Pennsylvania Department of Education approved standardized driver training for high school students.

The Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness program (ECYEH) ensures that homeless children and youth have access to a free, appropriate public education.

Children in foster care frequently change schools which can be disruptive to their education. The BCIU provides technical assistance and professional development related to the education of foster care youth.

The BCIU and its community partners host a variety of events and competitions throughout the year, providing enrichment in the arts, science, engineering, and more.

By responding to the specific needs of pregnant and parenting youth, the BCIU’s Pregnant and Parenting Teen (PPT) Program helps young people raise healthy children and become the best versions of themselves.
