Helping Schools Succeed

The Berks County Intermediate Unit exists to ensure the success of our school districts, and the BCIU offers a range of services to aid school districts in Berks County and across the Commonwealth. BCIU programs address district needs in technology, tax preparation and billing, student achievement, transportation, and more. 

The BCIU Executive Director’s Office is available to facilitate superintendent search services or administrator searches from start to finish.

Through consultation and training services, Berks County Intermediate Unit supports districts and schools in the comprehensive planning process.

An extension of the Executive Office, the BCIU provides effective, affordable, and high-quality marketing, communications, and design services to Berks County schools and community partners.

The BCIU offers services for federal program coordinators for school districts, including training and networking groups.

The BCIU’s Office of Professional Development and Curriculum offers grant writing services to the school districts.

The Berks County Intermediate Unit coordinates and maintains the bids for the Berks County Joint Purchasing Board consortium, which comprises 18 school districts, two career and technology centers, and the Berks County Intermediate Unit.

The BCIU Office of Human Resources coordinates bimonthly meetings of Berks County school officials with human resources responsibilities.

Act 89 is a state-funded program that provides a variety of services to the non-public schools of Berks County. As a service to the districts, the BCIU provides Title I and Title II, Part A services to the non-public students as a third-party contractor.

The BCIU Print Services Center provides professional printing services for any size job in color or black+white at a price that beats the cost of taking your printing needs to a local printing company or office supply store.

The BCIU offers customizable, business-ready meeting space at its Main Office building (1111 Commons Boulevard, Reading, PA 19605).

The BCIU School Performance Management Team provides a range of services and customized data support at no charge to designated schools in Pennsylvania.

The BCIU supports the academic success of all students by supporting the Pennsylvania Core Standards, Standards Aligned Systems, and other programs supporting student achievement.

SWEBS:  School Wide Effective Behavior Support is a proactive approach to discipline that promotes appropriate student behavior and increased learning.

The Berks County Intermediate Unit provides pupil transportation services in keeping with its state charter to lend support and assistance to Pennsylvania schools.
